Ireland - Day 5 - Blarney; need I say more...

So who ever it was that told me that the Blarney Castle was over rated was full of >>> bologna!  Yes there is a difference between Blarney & bologna, one stretches the truth, the other is a falsehood.

Yes we climbed up into the tower, explored the various ancient rooms on the way up & 2 of us did kiss the Blarney stone, fear of heights or not, I didn't come all this way, make my husband traverse these crazy roads & climb all those steps not to!

The stairs up through the Blarney Castle!

We also walked around the grounds after going up into the castle.  The gardnes and walk ways are beautiful!  They are also filled with some of the legends and lores of Ireland on the rituals, rites, witches & druids.  This includes a place (behind the waterfalls) where if you can navigate up & down the steps with your eyes closed, the witch in the rocks will grant you a wish (no peeking allowed).  Yesenia & Antonio did it.  I did not even try - I have a bad habit of turning my ankles & figured that was all I'd get from the exercise.
After this we left & headed to our next overnight at Ballyseede Castle.  It was more like a large manor home with the large banquet hall, bar, sitting rooms & more...  We were greeted by the staff including this guy:

That's Aurthor, the Irish Wolfhound.  He may be big though he is all sweetheart!  The only time I saw him move was to change nap locations.  Once right in front of us on the drive as we were leaving the parking lot to go out.  There is a second dog, Einstein, a corgi/blue terrier mix.  He was obsesses with chasing rocks.  He would drop a pile at your feet anywhere he found you & stare you down until you scattered them for him, then cheek them all bring them back & stare you down again...

Anyway, have a good day - more to come!
Rita
